What is Bada and what could it mean for your Samsung Galaxy?

Bada is a new mobile platform created by Samsung. While not much is known about Bada, we are told that it will have a heavy focus on rich applications and will help build an application ecosystem with a full development kit. A handset running Bada (which means `Ocean`, by the way) is due for release in the first half of 2010 and the Bada application store is expected to launch closer to the fourth quarter. The HTC Droid Eris is the second device in the Verizon Droid series and represents a cheaper version of the full-blown Motorola Droid. It packs a smaller screen, slower processor and older software version than its bigger brother, but that just means you can have it for US$100 less at launch day. LG GW620 soon to hit the shelves

Of all the countries in the world, Canadians will be the first to get their hands LG`s GW620. Seriously? We wrote about this 3-inch QWERTY slider a while ago and it`s great to see it dropping somewhere before the start of the holiday season. Specifications are solid with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and brushed aluminium chassis, but time will tell how that resistive touchscreen fares in the wild. We`re thinking that this phone could be LG`s contender to Motorola`s CLIQ and HTC`s Tattoo, at least price-wise. Read on to see it in the flesh.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Android handset gets an early preview

Engadget have been lucky enough to get their hands on an early build of the SE XPERIA X10, an android powered handset that we announced a few months ago. If you don`t remember, this is the device that packs both a 1Ghz Snapdragon chip and the custom SE "Rachael" user interface. If you check out the promotional videos you will be amazed at the custom UI and at how smooth it runs. Unfortunately it doesn`t run nearly as fluid on the phone itself with Sony Ericsson blaming the lag on the un-optimised nature of the software, claiming that the final version will be a lot snappier. In the mean time, we are left to drool over the new interface and scratch our heads over a release date. Read on to check out Engadgets take.

Turn-by-turn navigation comes free with Eclair

The wait is finally over. The first phone to start packing Android 2.0 (Eclair) is the Motorola Droid and along with a stack of new features comes turn-by-turn navigation. Since version 1.0, Android users have been using either the standard Google Maps application to get to their destinations, or filling the gap themselves with third-party navigations apps bought from the Google Marketplace.
