I want it!
I cant comment on the battery or performance but from what ive seen on youtube this is the phone for me I love the new interface and would ditch my iphone in a heartbeat to get my hands on this device. i hope this thing performs better than the G1. Htc looks like there onto a winner with the Hero.

HTC Hero Review
At last the phone we`ve been waiting for has finally arrived. The HTC Hero (advertised as the HTC Hero Graphite by Orange) has emerged blinking into the light, complete with the new Sense UI, to unleash a smackdown on the iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre. Android upgraded, this is the most powerful Google OS phone yet. In terms of overall slickness, it still ain`t an iPhone. It`s wrong how nearly every touchscreen on the market is compared to Apple`s device, as most aren`t aiming to be the same thing, but the HTC Hero is clearly a competitor, and it fails to compete.

HTC Hero (Sprint)
The HTC Hero smartphone marks a giant step in the evolution of the Android platform, but it isn’t without flaws. HTC`s third Android OS smartphone, the HTC Hero ($180 with a two-year contract from Sprint; price as of 9/23/2009), is a giant leap forward for the company`s family of Android phones, both in hardware and software. It isn`t without its flaws, however: Performance can be slow, video playback is unreliable, and the touch keyboard isn`t the easiest to use. Even so, the Hero is jam-packed with features, and I appreciated all of its easy customization.

HTC Hero Review
I love it! I don`t get to say that very often, but the Sprint version of the HTC Hero really stands out as one of the best smartphones of 2009 and so it`s won our Editor`s Choice award. Google`s Android itself is very compelling and both HTC and Sprint`s customizations send it over the top. Thanks to the Hero, HTC Touch Pro2, BlackBerry Tour and Palm Pre, Sprint has the best smartphone lineup on the market among US carriers so far this fall. The HTC Hero features a 3.2" capacitive multi-touch display, Android OS 1.5 (Cupcake) with HTC Sense software, a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm stereo headset jack and a microSD card slot (2 gig card included). It has EVDO Rev. A (Sprint`s version of 3.5G) for fast data, a GPS with Sprint Navigation and Google Maps as well as Sprint TV.

Review: HTC Hero (Sprint)
The HTC Hero is definitely the best Google Android phone available, thanks to a sleek design and HTC`s own software extensions. But the "best Google Android phone" doesn`t mean the best smartphone out there or even the best possible Google Android phone. Android still has a lot of room to grow. The Hero has some great features and a fun interface, but it doesn`t muscle out the other strong competitors on Sprint. Buzz up! on Yahoo! The Hero is a lovely piece of hardware. It`s not flashy with its gray soft-touch plastic with silver accents, but it feels rock solid. A 4.5 by 2.2 by .5 inch, 4.5 ounce slab, it`s topped by a 3.2-inch, 320x480 glass capacitive touch screen. Below the touch screen are some action buttons and a fluid-feeling trackball; there`s a real, honest-to-goodness 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, and a microSD memory card slot under the back cover (but fortunately, not under the battery.) The phone comes with a 2GB memory card, but my 16GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra card worked fine.

CNET Editor`s Review: HTC Hero
While it could use a boost in the performance department, the HTC Hero is the most feature-packed Google Android device to date, bringing some notable improvements and a highly customizable interface. The Hero isn`t without its faults, though. The smartphone can occasionally be sluggish, and we`d still like to see improvements made for media syncing and file management. Also, there`s still a bit of a techy feel to the phone, so it doesn`t quite have as broad of an appeal as the Palm Pre or Apple iPhone. Still, the HTC Hero is a very capable smartphone that will surely please many a gadget fan. The HTC Hero will be offered for a reasonable $179.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Be aware, however, that the smartphone requires a plan with unlimited data.
