HTC Magic review
The second Google Android handset is finally among us after what seems like an extended wait, and was it worth it? Yes indeed – the HTC Magic is better in just about every way to its predecessor, the G1, unless you really need a slide-out Qwerty keyboard or you hate Vodafone.

HTC Magic review
Having already brought out the world`s first Android-powered phone with the T-Mobile G1, the Taiwanese company got its act together faster than the likes of Samsung, Motorola and LG to bring out another 3.2-inch touchscreen handset. In short, this is a very good upgrade from HTC, which has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last 18 months, and all we can do now is salivate at the prospect of a year chock-full with new Android handsets. However, they`ll all have to go the extra mile to beat this new kid on the block.

HTC Magic Review
The HTC Magic is not quite the iPhone killer that some people expected it to be. As both cost roughly the same price on contract, we`d still recommend the iPhone over the Magic, mainly because the Magic lacks multitouch. But we can pretty safely say that the Magic is the second-best smart phone we`ve ever used, so, if you really can`t stand the iPhone, this is the handset to get, as it`s easy to use, fast and packed full of features.

HTC Magic Review
As hard as we tried to love T-Mobile’s G1, it just has too many niggles for us to hang out with it on a daily basis. The camera can’t record video, there’s no stereo Bluetooth and, most gratingly, its design is more boring than a year in solitary with John Major. HTC has clearly been listening to our grumbles, because the Magic is a real improvement. While the ditching of the G1’s QWERTY keyboard might split opinion, the payoff is sleek, curvaceous design, a much better feature list and improved navigation.

HTC Magic Review
In a nutshell, the HTC Magic offers a slimmer and smaller form factor than the G1 but lacks a QWERTY keyboard. Software wise, they are almost identical (once the G1 is updated to Android 1.5) and there isn’t anything too cool about the Magic. It is a nice phone - it feels nice in the hand, the on-screen keyboard is well-implemented - but we are disappointed that it is lacking the Sense UI that would really give it the “WOW” factor. We can only hope it will be available as a software update.
