Android: Motorola CLIQ

Formally known as the Motorola Morrison, the CLIQ is a budget handset with plenty to offer, including glass capacitive touchscreen, slideout QWERTY keyboard and 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera. The phone is also the first to include Motorola`s MotoBLUR user-interface, which unifies communications from txt, email and social networking. Exchange ActiveSync support is included out of the box.

Motorola Cliq Review

Rating: 8.8

The beautifully designed Motorola Cliq is a social butterfly’s dream phone, but others may find the MotoBlur user interface overwhelming. The Motorola Cliq ($200 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile) caught my attention because of its sleek design and its innovative MotoBlur overlay for Android. Overall, the new features lived up to my expectations, and I applaud Motorola for doing something different to separate itself from the Android pack. The Cliq isn`t perfect, however: Its camera disappoints, and it doesn`t ship with the latest version of Android.

Motorola`s First Android Phone Delivers Messy, Turbulent Ride

Rating: 6

Spending time with the Cliq, Motorola`s first phone running Google`s Android OS is like spinning doughnuts in a funny car for hours. It`s thrilling and a little dizzying, but for those without an iron constitution it can be a little tumultuous on the tummy. The Cliq is a phone designed for social networking fiends. It aggregates every social networking service you`d care to use — Twitter, Facebook, MySpace — and goes a step further, throwing e-mail and photo services such as PhotoBucket and Picasa into the mix.

Editor`s Choice: Motorola Cliq

Rating: 8.5

Are you an active Web 2.0 socialite? Do you Twitter and Facebook (or whatever the verbal form of Facebook is)? If you are, the Motorola Cliq is for you. This first Android phone from the company that invented the cellphone aggregates all your social networking accounts and contacts and delivers updates right to the home screen in ways both intuitive, clever and potentially overwhelming. And with its slideout QWERTY, it`s easy to respond and message and post to your favorite sites. Aside from this social networking aggregation, Cliq is a classy device, well-designed, well-built and for this brief shining moment, arguably the best Android phone thus far.
