Samsung NC20 Review
The Samsung NC20 is the successor to the hugely popular Samsung NC10 ultraportable netbook released last year. While Samsung was quite late with its netbook launch, as there was too much competition by the time the Samsung NC10 was launched, it did manage to garner great reviews and also a decent amount of market share. It offered good performance, a superb keyboard and the best battery life at the time of its launch. Now, Samsung is out with the new NC20 which is the bigger sibling of the NC10 with some of its hardware changed - it is powered by the VIA Nano U2250 instead of the standard Intel Atom N270 / N280 and a bigger 12.1 inch display. In this review, we check out the new Samsung NC20 and see if it can measure up to the high expectations set by the Samsung NC10.

Samsung NC20 Review
Compared with its Atom-based competition, this Nano-based netbook offers significantly better performance. The Nano is clearly ahead of the Atom when it comes to internet performance, and a netbook`s ability to handle JavaScript, web sites and web applications is crucial. But when even handling simple HTML and XML pages, the Nano-based NC20 is significantly faster than an Atom-based netbook. The Samsung NC20`s display resolution of 1, 280 by 800 pixels saves a vast amount of scrolling up and down. On the downside, the NC20`s highly reflective screen does affect its readability. Battery life is excellent. Even with Wi-Fi enabled, you can still expect a good four hours` web surfing from the NC20. Despite the reflective screen and 1.5kg weight, which is heavy for its class, you`ll be hard pushed to find a better netbook on the market.

Samsung NC20 Review
The Samsung NC20 blurs the line between netbooks and low-cost ultraportables. While the VIA Nano processor isn’t as powerful as a mainstream Core 2 Duo CPU, it provides similar if not slightly better performance than Intel’s current Atom offerings. And the NC20 offers better performance than the Dell Inspiron Mini 12. When it comes to the U.S., the NC20 will cost about $100 more than the 10-inch Samsung NC10 ($449) or the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE ($399), which both are more compact and offer longer battery life. However, the upshot with the NC20 is in the more comfortable 12-inch computing experience, which we think many will be willing to pay extra for.

Review Samsung NC20 Netbook
Can you remember the first netbook which started this hype? Right! The EEE PC with a 7 inch(!) display. The Samsung NC20 lying before us now has a 12 inch display and is still called a netbook, or a mini notebook. The display is the deciding factor when deciding whether a laptop is a netbook or a subnotebook, and in this case this criteria is no longer valid. The only criterias left are the price, around 470 Euros, and the basic programs supported by the hardware. The case is nearly identical to that of the smaller NC10, and the only difference between the two is bigger measurements of the NC20`s case. As usual, the feel and the worksmanship of the case are of high quality. Even the connections available are identical. The bigger NC20 restricts it`s ports to those found on a typical netbook.

CNET editors` review (Samsung NC20)
Samsung`s NC20 stands out from the crowd in two very important ways. First, it`s one of only a handful of 12-inch Netbooks (the best-known example being Dell`s Vista-addled Mini 12); secondly, it`s the first laptop we`ve tested with Via`s Nano CPU, intended as an alternative to Intel`s popular Atom processor. The 12-inch Samsung NC20 holds its own in the first Netbook showdown between Via`s new Nano CPU and Intel`s popular Atom.
