Sony Vaio P Review
There`s no denying the sex appeal of this not-quite-a-netbook model, but the price is a little too steep for what Sony`s VAIO P offers. So, is this thing a netbook? Sure, this seems like some spiritual descendant of Toshiba`s Libretto (raise your hand if you remember that classic). But no matter how much you protest, Sony, how can you not consider this a netbook-class computer? It`s roughly the size of a netbook and performs like a netbook. And that`s the problem in a nutshell. Considering the price, it`s got to do more than just be small. On the other hand, it sure looks sweet.

Sony Vaio P Review
Sony has finally made a grand entry in the netbook market, and it has definitely done it with great style. The new Sony Vaio P is the new ultraportable unleashed by Sony, to compete with the scores of netbooks already available. The Sony Vaio P is a nice option for those who want a stylish ultraportable device, something which stands out from the standard netbook crowd, and don’t mind paying a premium for the exclusivity.

Sony Vaio P Review: Hands On With The Netbook/Lifestyle PC
Like a lovestruck teenager finally getting to snog their pop idol, we arrived doe-eyed, softened up and ready to fall in love with the Vaio. We’d already lusted after its saucy lines and shiny surface, and the sensational spec sheet had caused us to bulk buy extra Kleenex to cope with the excess love. However, after spending a fair bit of time close up and personal with the Vaio, we have to admit to being a little disappointed.

Editors Review: Sony VAIO P Review
Sony likes to keep its VAIO products aimed at mid-to-high-end buyers — much like Apple does — and generally eschews the budget end of the market (although there are a handful of less expensive VAIOs we`ve reviewed favourably). When it comes to Intel-Atom-powered systems, it`s no different: Sony`s entry into the very hot mini-notebook category shares a lot with Netbooks such as the Dell Mini 9 or Asus Eee PC, but clearly goes out of its way to avoid being lumped in with them (Sony doesn`t even call the P-series a Netbook).

Sony VAIO P
There`s no question that the Sony VAIO P stands out from the netbook crowd. It`s lightweight, compact design is simply striking, and we appreciated the wide and crisp 8-inch display and zoom controls, mobile broadband connectivity, and relatively comfortable keyboard. However, $899 is a lot to pay for a secondary PC, never mind $1, 199, and the VAIO P`s performance under Vista is less than stellar. (We would actually argue that early adopters download the beta version of Windows 7, which should offer smoother performance.) As a design statement, the VAIO P is a breakthrough, and Sony crams an amazing amount of technology into a 1.4-pound chassis. We just wish it had more pep.
